Here are our best wines under $20!

1. Frescobaldi Rosso di Toscana Remole

This Italian wine is a steal at under $20 a bottle. This dry, medium bodied Sangiovese is  deep red color with a great balance of fruity and earthy flavors. A lovely dustiness and aroma of violets makes this a pleasure to pour into the glass.  This wine is perfect for pairing with pasta or pizza for a classy and delicious dinner.

2. Colinas De Lisboa

This southern Portuguese blend hits a perfect balance of fruit, secondary characters, and tannins to balance a soft acid profile.

A blend of  Touriga Nacional, Castelao, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a red fruit forward wine with some nicely balanced oak characters.  This one goes down easy, so you may need to pick up two!

3. Emilio Moro Finca Resalso

This inky  little Spanish Tempranillo  is full of rich, dark fruit flavors with a hint of spice. It's a deeply flavorful wine with enough fruity characteristics to stand up to spicy foods.

It's perfect for a chilly evening and pairs great with any meat dish.  Or tacos!

4. Sassoregale Maremma Sangiovese

We love this Tuscan wine because of its fruity taste and smooth finish.  Born in Maremma in the heart of Tuscany, the boars head on the label pays tribute to cinghiale, or the wild boar that wander throughout Tuscany.

This ruby red glass of fruit and spice makes for a perfect weeknight bottle.   It's perfect to enjoy on a cozy night in with a cheese platter or a pasta dish.

5. Horizon De Lynch Haut Medoc

This French wine is a classic Bordeaux blend that every wine lover must try. It's a full-bodied wine with bold flavors and a smooth finish. Enjoy with a steak dinner for a truly luxurious meal.

6. Balnaves of Coonawarra "The Blend"

Finally, an Australian wine on the list!  And this one is a cracker of a wine.  We first discovered this little Bordeaux-style blend at the winery in Coonawarra and loved it from the first sip.  Imagine how happy we were to find it at Dan Murphy's!  It held a spot on our best wines under $20 from the first sip we had.

Balnaves holds these wines back just as they do for theirCabernet that cost 5 times  as much (or MORE!) to allow proper bottle aging.  A bonus for you when you pick this wine up!  The blend changes depending on each vintage; the current release is 49% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot, with 7.5% Cabernet Franc and 5.5% Petit Verdot to add perfume.

A perfect wine to pair with any beef dish, but will go just as well with anything off the BBQ.  OR just by itself!

7. Wynns Coonawarra Shiraz

Are you seeing a theme with the best values in Australian Wine?  Wynns has knocked it out of the park in every area of winemaking, and this little Shiraz is no exception.  This Australian Shiraz is one of the best value wines on our list.

It features rich, spicy flavors with a smooth finish.  Tons of red and blue fruits, cracked peppercorn, and delicated floral notes make this a wine punching well above its weight. It  pairs well with red meat dishes or hearty stews. (who wants my secret beef stew recipe?!)

8. Trivento Riserva Malbec

Who doesn't love a delicious bottle of Malbec?  All juicy and full, this is a treat for that flame-seared barbeque that MAY have spent a minute or two too long over the fire.  But we all love the blackened crusty bits on that piece of meat!

This Argentinian wine is perfect for that weekend BBQ with a group of friends, or  for a casual night in with a more intimate group. It's a full-bodied red wine with dark fruit flavors and a hint of vanilla.  The oak does show a tad, with some cinnamon and dill characters coming through.

Pair it with pizza for a cozy night in or those crusty blackened spareribs  for summer grilling!

9. Gabriel Meffre Cotes du Rhone

Let's jump over to France for our next value- packed best wine under $20.  Gabrielle Meffre  has been producing wines in the Gigondas regions of the Rhône Valley since 1936.  This is one of their entry level bottlings, and they've created a beautifully consistent botte here.

A beautiful ruby red colour. The nose opens with lively aromas of ripe, red fruits and delicate spicy note. We find these flavours on the palate with a vibrant profile and a fun, balanced finish.  This wine will sit a bit lighter in style than the Australian Shiraz on the list, perfect for a bit less heavy dish; a nice alternative for a summertime red with a chicken dish, pork chops, or grilled vegetables.

10. Chateau Tanunda Matthews Road Cabernet Sauvignon

Back in South Australia, Chateau Tanunda is knocking out some amazing wine at all price-points.  The Matthews Road line blends Cabernet from Coonawarra with their vineyards in the cooler climate cousin to Barossa Valley, the Eden Valley.

Dark fruits and forest notes dominate this wine, with that slighty minty eucalypt character coming out that is so common to cooler climate Cabernet.  A beautiful little wine to go with just about anything.

11. Coutada Velha Signature Red

Portugal is full of delicious wines at bargain prices!  This Portuguese red blend is comprised of Aragonez, Trincadeira & Cabernet Sauvignon and  is perfect for those who love a bold yet smooth and fresh wine. It features notes of blackberry, plum, and truffle, yet is balanced by a zesty acidity that keeps it from being too earthy or heavy. a perfect pairing for a rich, meaty dish with tomatoes and spice!
